Collection: Ingo Maurer
It’s that perpetual state of wonderment that has led Ingo Maurer to be recognized as one of the true visionaries in the world of lighting. Trained as a typographer and graphic designer, there was that one night in 1965 that changed everything -- Maurer looked up and fell in love with a light bulb. A year later he created -- and manufactured -- his first lamp, Bulb. Four years later that fixture was in the permanent collection of MoMA. A star was born. As was a business.
To this day, the entire start-to-finish process is still being carried out in Munich. Each design is made in small batch quantities, many made-to-order only after purchase, an design-forward mix of skilled handcraft and advanced technology.
